How to Change the Partition on a Secondary Drive

A "secondary drive," as classified by your operating system, is any storage drive that doesn't have Windows installed on it. If you have a USB external hard drive attached to your computer that you use to backup files, it would be considered a secondary drive. A partition is a specifically defined section of the total storage capacity of that drive. You can change a partition on a secondary drive using native Windows tools.
Instructions

1.Click the Windows "Start" menu.

2.Select "Control Panel."

3.Double-click "Administrative Tools." From the list of options that appears, open the "Computer Management" application.

4.Click "Disk Management." This will show you a list of all the drives and partitions currently associated with your computer. Right-click on the partition on your secondary drive that you want to change. Click "Extend Volume" if you want to make the partition larger. Use the box that opens to specify your new size for the partition and click "OK." Click "Reduce Volume" if you want to make the partition smaller. Use the box that opens to specify your new size for the partition and click "OK."
